KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted intermittent rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms across Karachi and various districts of Sindh starting from tomorrow afternoon until August 3, 2026. This weather system is driven by a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal that has weakened into a depression, which, combined with an active monsoon system from central India and interacting westerly winds, is continuously channeling moisture-laden winds into the country. For Karachi specifically, citizens can expect light to moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms from Saturday afternoon through August 3, amidst current conditions of partly cloudy skies, high humidity, and maximum temperatures ranging between 34°C and 36°C. Additionally, several Sindh districts—including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Khairpur, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Matiari, and Shaheed Benazirabad—will experience thunderstorms and rain during this period. The meteorological department has also issued an urban flooding alert for low-lying areas of Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Hyderabad from July 31 to August 2, urging relevant authorities to take timely precautionary measures.
