Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association Postpones Nationwide Strike Scheduled for March 26

KARACHI: The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has officially announced the postponement of its nationwide strike, which was originally set to begin on March 26. According to Abdul Sami Khan, Chairman of the PPDA, the association decided to put the closure of petrol pumps on hold in light of the current prevailing situation in the country. He clarified that the decision was made to avoid further public inconvenience during these challenging times.

The association has confirmed that petrol pumps across the country will remain open on March 26 as the Chairman cited the current national situation as the primary reason for deferring the protest. A final decision regarding any future closure will be made following an upcoming General Body meeting of the petroleum dealers.

Previously, the association had called for a strike to demand an increase in their profit margins. Highlighting the financial grievances of the dealers, Abdul Sami Khan stated that it has become extremely difficult for petrol pumps to continue operations under the current profit margins. While the immediate strike has been averted, the PPDA remains firm on its demand for a margin revision, indicating that the threat of a strike remains on the table pending the results of their internal consultations.
