KARACHI – DSP Syed Ahsan Zulfiqar, who was critically wounded during a high-profile raid at the residence of prime suspect Armaghan in the Mustafa Amir murder case, passed away yesterday at a private hospital on Stadium Road. Despite multiple surgeries and treatment at four different private hospitals, he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
The Incident and Valor
On February 8, 2025, DSP Zulfiqar—then serving in the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC)—led a joint raid with the CPLC at Bungalow No. 35, Khayaban-e-Momin, Phase 7, DHA. The operation aimed to recover the abducted youth, Mustafa Amir. During the raid, the primary suspect, Armaghan, opened fire with sophisticated weapons. DSP Zulfiqar and his guard, Mohammad Iqbal, sustained severe gunshot wounds. Specifically, the DSP was shot in the leg, a wound that led to prolonged medical complications.
Funeral and Honors
The funeral prayers (Namaz-e-Janaza) were offered at Jamia Masjid Rahmania on Tariq Road after Maghrib prayers on Monday, followed by burial at the Society Cemetery. The ceremony was attended by IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho, the Karachi Police Chief, senior police officials, and bereaved family members. IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho paid a glowing tribute to the late officer, stating that DSP Ahsan Zulfiqar was a brave and professional officer who set a high example of courage.
