KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government, Nasir Hussain Shah, recently chaired a crucial meeting of the Provincial Local Government Commission to address town administration, public service delivery, and municipal efficiency. During the session, the Minister emphasized that devolving powers to the grassroots level is inevitable to ensure the seamless delivery of civic amenities directly to citizens’ doorsteps. Additionally, the meeting reviewed ongoing disputes regarding the collection of taxes—including milching animal taxes—between various towns, issuing instructions to resolve them promptly to strengthen institutional resources. The Minister also highlighted the necessity of robust cooperation among relevant departments and local representatives for the timely resolution of local issues.
