KARACHI – Startling revelations have emerged linking the Mustafa Amir murder case to the notorious drug cartel led by Anmol, alias Pinky. The development has exposed a sprawling narcotics network operating across the city, raising serious questions about the efficiency and integrity of anti-narcotics and law enforcement agencies. Sources reveal that despite clear connections between the rising drug trade, high-profile kidnappings, murders, and the martyrdom of a senior police officer, investigative agencies failed to act decisively, allowing key players to evade justice.
The Chain of Events and Arrests
The investigation outlines a dark trail of interconnected crimes that unfolded over the past year. On February 8, 2025, a key suspect, Armaghan, was arrested after a fierce police encounter at his residence in Gizri, Defence. During the shootout, DSP Ahsan Zulfiqar sustained critical injuries and tragically succumbed to his wounds later in March 2025. Based on Armaghan’s interrogation, which exposed a nationwide drug cartel, law enforcement arrested Sahir Hasan on February 22, 2025, who was allegedly managing the international smuggling of cocaine and weed. The probe expanded further, leading to the arrest of Faizan, alias Faizi, a major cocaine dealer in Karachi on March 6, 2025. Faizi confessed to his links with Anmol alias Pinky’s gang, revealing how they supplied cocaine across the city.
Systemic Failure and Ice-Cold Investigations
Following Faizi’s confessions, authorities initially decided to formally include him in the Mustafa Amir murder investigation. However, the probe was abruptly sidelined. Due to weak prosecution and a flawed investigation, Faizan alias Faizi was released shortly after his 2025 arrest. He was re-arrested in 2026 but managed to secure bail once again due to poorly constructed legal cases. Despite Faizi naming the gang leader, Anmol (Pinky), investigators failed to dismantle the roots of the cartel.
A Missed Opportunity for Justice
Law enforcement officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated that if the authorities had aggressively pursued Armaghan’s network and thoroughly investigated the attack on the martyred DSP Ahsan Zulfiqar, the entire drug cartel could have been dismantled last year. The rapid expansion of the drug trade and its direct links to violent street crimes have triggered widespread anxiety among Karachi’s citizens. Experts believe that serious and timely action by anti-narcotics forces following the 2025 revelations could have saved innocent lives and curbed the city’s worsening drug menace.
