KARACHI: The Kalri area of Lyari turned into a battlefield after an enraged mob tortured a man and attempted to set him on fire for allegedly trying to harass a minor girl.
According to local residents, a large number of people gathered at the spot immediately after the incident and overpowered the suspect before he could flee. The infuriated crowd severely thrashed the suspect, with some individuals attempting to burn him alive.
Upon receiving reports of the escalating tension, heavy contingents of Police and Rangers rushed to the scene. After facing significant resistance, the security forces managed to rescue the suspect from the violent mob and brought the situation under control.
Police authorities stated that a thorough investigation into the incident is underway from various angles. Statements and details are also being collected from the affected girl and her family to determine the facts.
