KARACHI: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced the temporary closure of several key air routes within Karachi’s airspace due to operational reasons. A formal Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued, affecting multiple sectors within the Flight Information Region (FIR).
Closure Schedule & Impact
According to the PAA, the restrictions will be in effect on April 28 and 29, specifically from 07:00 AM to 10:30 AM daily. This closure applies from ground level to all altitudes, meaning all air traffic within these windows will be redirected.
Affected Routes
The suspension covers several critical sectors. The primary air route between Karachi and Nawabshah remains completely closed. Additionally, key sectors between DOSTI and Karachi, as well as routes involving MELUM, TAPDU, BEVIN, and BINOR, are affected. Routes extending from ORIMO in various directions and from PAXOR to BINOR have also been suspended.
Alternative Arrangements
To ensure the continuity of flight operations, the PAA has activated alternative one-way and two-way routes for airlines and pilots. Active alternatives toward DUDU, Nawabshah, IDEBA, and TELAM have been provided to minimize disruption.
Important Advisory
Authorities have directed pilots to exercise extreme caution during flight planning and strictly adhere to the provided alternatives. Travelers are advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines regarding potential changes or delays in flight schedules during this period.
