KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, officially inaugurated and dispatched the special Independence Day Safari Train from Karachi Cantt Station to Tharparkar in a vibrant ceremony attended by Pakistan Railways officials, including Deputy DS Operations Hamid Farooq Qureshi. The safari train is elaborately decorated with traditional Ajrak motifs, national flags, and flex banners featuring Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to reflect the festive spirit. A total of 165 passengers, including international tourists visiting Karachi for their holidays, are onboard the train, which is scheduled to arrive in Tharparkar this evening. Passengers will participate in Independence Day celebrations on August 14 at Zero Point and other key locations before returning to Karachi tomorrow evening. Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah emphasized that the desert safari train showcases the rich cultural colors of Sindh and highlighted the province’s vast potential for religious tourism, noting ongoing efforts with the Railways Department to launch similar tourist trains to other destinations. Furthermore, the Minister paid tribute to national leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, the Prime Minister, and Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, while noting Pakistan’s growing role in global peace supported by recent strategic agreements with Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
