KMC Revamps Emergency Infrastructure: PKR 100 Million Injected for Citywide Rescue Upgrade

KARACHI: In a major move to bolster public safety and disaster management, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has launched a comprehensive infrastructure upgrade program. Under the directives of Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, KMC has issued tenders worth PKR 100 million for the rehabilitation, expansion, and establishment of key fire and rescue centers across the city.

A primary focus of this initiative is the upgrading of the Emergency Response Center to effectively handle coastal emergencies. The modernized center will specifically target high-risk areas like Hawksbay Beach, where drowning incidents spike during weekends and holidays. Equipped with advanced communication systems and modern facilities, the center aims to drastically minimize response times, ensuring swift deployment of lifeguards and critical equipment to save lives. Additionally, as part of this infrastructure expansion, KMC will establish a brand-new, fully equipped fire station in Maripur to further strengthen the city’s overall fire-fighting capabilities and ensure a safer environment for citizens.
