KARACHI: In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Korangi District Police conducted a successful intelligence-based operation in Landhi, dismantling a massive inter-provincial drug syndicate dubbed the “Pinky 2” gang. Addressing a joint press conference, DIG East Dr. Farrukh Ali and SSP Korangi Fida Hussain Janwari revealed that police arrested two key members of the network—identified as Zeeshan and his sister-in-law Hira—and recovered 19 kilograms of high-grade “Ice” valued at over Rs250 million. The syndicate operated under the guise of an ordinary tire-puncture shop in Landhi managed by the prime suspect, Parvez, who utilized multiple rented houses to run the multi-million rupee operation. Reminiscent of the infamous “Pinky Case,” this family-run cartel involved Hira, her son Hasnain, and Lahore-based kingpin Mehwish, with narcotics smuggled from Afghanistan through a cross-border smuggler named Sabir. The gang marketed their high-grade methamphetamine under a custom brand name, “Cobra 728,” supplying it nationwide via couriers and private vehicles while evading detection by utilizing WhatsApp on a daughter’s device instead of personal mobile phones. While key operatives Zeeshan and Hira are in custody, the mastermind Parvez and Lahore head Mehwish remain at large, prompting ongoing raids. Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar commended the Korangi Police for the successful operation, reiterating the provincial government’s firm resolve to completely eradicate drug peddling without discrimination.
