KARACHI: In a major crackdown against rising street crimes in the provincial capital, the Sachal Police on Monday arrested a four-member gang notorious for robbing citizens at gunpoint.
The Operation Acting on a tip-off, a police team from the East Zone’s Sachal Police Station conducted a targeted raid during a patrol near Sher Khan Goth. The operation resulted in the apprehension of four suspects involved in snatching mobile phones and cash.
Suspects Identified The arrested individuals have been identified as Muhammad Shahroz, Shahzad Hussain, Siddique Rasheed, and Waseem Bahar.
Recoveries and Confessions According to the police spokesperson, illegal weapons, several snatched mobile phones, and a significant amount of cash were recovered from the suspects’ possession. During the initial interrogation, the accused confessed to snatching more than 50 mobile phones across various localities. The gang was primarily active in Sohrab Goth, Super Highway, Sachal, and surrounding areas.
Specific Cases The suspects admitted to a recent robbery two days ago near Sumaira Chowk, where they snatched a mobile phone from a citizen named Anees. A Case (FIR No. 699/26) under Section 397/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code had already been registered at the Sachal Police Station on the victim’s complaint.
Current Status A spokesperson for the East Police confirmed that the criminal records of the arrested suspects are being thoroughly verified. Further revelations and more arrests are expected as the investigation progresses.
