KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has approved decisive departmental action against officials found responsible for alleged illegal land allotments, mutations, and irregularities within the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Land Department. Following complaints from citizens regarding land management irregularities, a formal inquiry committee was formed, which led to strict disciplinary measures.
As part of these actions, Additional Director Hafiz Mughira Qadir and Deputy Director Noman Ahmed have been terminated from service, while Assistant Director Naeem-ul-Haq’s promotion has been officially rescinded based on the inquiry findings. Furthermore, the Municipal Commissioner has been directed to review and resolve all pending departmental inquiry cases within one month and submit a comprehensive progress report. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy, Mayor Wahab stated that public office is a trust rather than a license for personal gain, warning that anyone abusing authority or facilitating illegal transactions will face strict legal consequences.
