KARACHI: A fresh and powerful monsoon system, driven by moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, is set to enter Pakistan. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), intermittent to heavy downpours accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds are expected across Karachi and various districts of Sindh from July 31 to August 2.
The wet spell in Karachi is projected to commence on July 31 and persist through August 2, bringing gusty winds, thunder, lightning, and potential urban flooding in low-lying areas due to heavy rainfall spells. Simultaneously, widespread rain and thunderstorms are forecast across major Sindh districts—including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Thatta—with isolated heavy downpours expected in several areas across the province.
