KARACHI: Despite paying exorbitant gas bills, citizens across Karachi are facing a severe gas shortage, leaving households without fuel and forcing residents to rely on expensive alternatives.
The Crisis Deepens
The gas crisis in Pakistan’s industrial and economic hub has reached an alarming level. In most parts of the city, gas supply remains completely suspended or suffers from extremely low pressure, making daily life miserable for millions.
Burden on the Common Man
Residents of the affected areas have expressed their frustration, noting that even after settling heavy monthly bills, their kitchen stoves remain cold. This has created immense difficulties for women struggling to prepare meals for their families. As a result, the middle and working classes are now caught between two fires: they are forced to buy costly cooked food from hotels or turn to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), where “cylinder mafias” are reportedly overcharging desperate consumers.
Public Outcry
Public circles have slammed the authorities, stating that the dual burden of record-breaking inflation and the lack of basic utilities is becoming unbearable. Citizens warn that if the gas supply is not restored immediately, they will have no choice but to take their protests to the streets.
