KARACHI – Taking strict action against administrative negligence and reports of cheating, the Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has blacklisted two private schools serving as examination centers and shifted candidates to new locations. The decision followed a notice taken by the Provincial Minister regarding widespread irregularities during the ongoing matriculation exams.
The Investigation & Findings
A five-member committee, headed by the Deputy Secretary, conducted surprise visits to the suspected locations. At Grace Academy Learning Secondary School (Landhi/Quaidabad), an unauthorized individual, sports teacher Hanif Malik, was found performing the duties of the Center Superintendent while money was being extorted from students for cheating. Similarly, at National Grammar School (Shadman Town, Malir), the Center Superintendent and staff were found openly aiding students in cheating after taking bribes.
Strict Penalties
Based on the committee’s recommendations, both schools have been officially blacklisted by the Board. An FIR has been registered at the local police station against Hanif Malik of Grace Academy on behalf of the Board, and the Center Superintendents of both institutions have been suspended from their duties with immediate effect.
New Centers for Candidates
To ensure the transparency of the remaining exams, the Controller of Examinations has announced the new venues for affected students:
Old Center: Grace Academy Learning Secondary School (Quaidabad)
New Center: Allied Secondary School, Gulistan Society, Quaidabad
Old Center: National Grammar School (Shadman Town, Malir)
New Center: Govt. Boys Secondary School, Khuldabad
The BSEK Chairman emphasized that no compromise will be made on the integrity of the examination process and warned of similar crackdowns if further complaints arise.
