KARACHI: In a significant move to stabilize the ongoing energy crisis, one petrol tanker and two LPG vessels have arrived at Port Qasim, promising a major improvement in the country’s fuel supply chain.
Shipment Details
According to port administration, several key vessels have successfully berthed to replenish stocks. The oil tanker MT Virgo arrived with over 3,800 tons of petrol, while the vessel PCG Pericles reached from Oman carrying more than 3,800 tons of LPG. Furthermore, the Navigator Aries arrived from Iraq with a substantial load of 11,136 tons of LPG. The arrival of these shipments is expected to ease the pressure on energy reserves and ensure a smoother distribution of fuel across the country.
Crackdown on Price Hiking
While the supply situation improves, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has taken strict notice of the recent “unjustified” hike in LPG prices. An OGRA spokesperson stated that a large-scale crackdown has been initiated against hoarders and elements involved in illegal price hikes. The authority aims to ensure that citizens can access gas at the officially notified rates without exploitation.
