KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has successfully neutralized a non-customs paid (NCP) smuggling network, arresting one suspect and recovering a significant cache of smuggled goods during a targeted operation in the city.
The Operation
Acting on the directives of the Director FIA Karachi Zone and the Deputy Director CCC Karachi, officials conducted a raid near the Election Commission office on Passport Office Road, Saddar. During the action, a bus bearing registration number BTA-079 was intercepted.
Seizure and Arrest
Upon searching the vehicle, FIA personnel recovered a large quantity of smuggled items, including solar inverters, high-quality fabric, soap consignments, and motorbike chains. The suspect, identified as Bashir Ahmed, son of Jan Muhammad, was apprehended on the spot.
Investigation and Legal Action
According to an FIA spokesperson, the accused has confessed to his involvement in an organized smuggling network during initial interrogation. Bashir Ahmed, along with the confiscated goods, has been shifted to the Corporate Crime Circle (CCC) Police Station. Legal proceedings are currently underway, and a formal First Information Report (FIR) is being registered against the suspect.
