KARACHI: In a major crackdown against human trafficking, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking Circle has successfully dismantled a highly organized seven-member syndicate operating out of North Nazimabad, Karachi. Directed by the Karachi Zone leadership, the raid uncovered a sophisticated operation where the suspects ran fake travel agencies under multiple names, defrauding innocent citizens by promising employment and residency in Europe. The gang’s modus operandi involved charging victims between PKR 800,000 and 1,000,000 per person, offering neither the promised visas nor refunds. To ensure compliance and silence, gang members would don counterfeit police uniforms to threaten and harass victims who demanded their money back. During the operation, authorities seized hundreds of Pakistani passports, modern weaponry, fake police uniforms, laptops, and crucial documentary evidence from the rented facility. Preliminary investigations reveal that this network had been actively involved in human trafficking and financial fraud for the past five years, with 52 victims having already come forward. The FIA has now expanded the scope of its investigation to apprehend facilitators and trace the syndicate’s financial transactions.
