KARACHI: A heartbreaking traffic accident at the Khayaban-e-Bukhari signal in DHA Phase 6 claimed the life of a poor flower vendor and left his minor son injured, completely devastating an impoverished family.
The Incident: The tragedy occurred when an uncontrolled, speeding double-cabin vehicle (Dala) veered off the road and ploughed into 40-year-old Khadim and his two young sons, who were resting on the pavement after a long day of selling flowers. Khadim died on the spot, while his 4-year-old son, Zeeshan, sustained injuries. Miraculously, a second child escaped unhurt. The victims were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
The Investigation & Suspect: According to the police, the vehicle lacked a registration number plate. Following the crash, the driver transported the victims to the hospital but managed to flee the scene shortly after. Law enforcement agencies have launched a hunt to trace the suspect and seize the vehicle.
A Family’s Plight: The deceased, a resident of Nasir Jump in Korangi, was the sole breadwinner for his seven children. According to his eldest son, the children had to quit school and sell flowers at DHA signals alongside their father after the latter previously suffered a broken leg. The family was resting temporarily on the footpath before returning home when the fatal crash occurred.
