Facebook has introduced a new, free feature called “Facebook Verified” to help users confirm their true identity and ensure authentic connections on the platform. The feature allows users to verify their identity within minutes by recording a short video selfie, which is then matched against their profile pictures. Designed to combat the rise of AI-generated content, fake profiles, and messages, this tool gives users a reliable way to know there is a real person behind an account. The verification badge is entirely free with no subscription required and will appear prominently across key areas on the platform. Currently, the feature is being rolled out globally in phases and is available to eligible users aged 18 and older.
