KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department has imposed a strict ban on the use of private school buildings for residential or commercial purposes, warning of stern legal action against violators. According to a notification issued by the department, school premises must be utilized exclusively for educational activities. The authorities noted with concern that some institutions were hosting shops or residential quarters within their boundaries, calling it a grave violation of established regulations.
The Sindh Education Department has also announced a province-wide inspection of all private schools to ensure compliance. School administrations are now required to submit a Structural Fitness Certificate, and schools operating in dilapidated or unsafe buildings have been ordered to vacate immediately. Any institution found involved in non-educational activities or violating building codes will face suspension or permanent cancellation of its registration, and in extreme cases, the premises will be sealed.
The department further warned that the school management will be held solely responsible for any mishap or accident occurring within premises that are being used for unauthorized purposes.
