KARACHI: A District and Sessions Court (East) has rejected the bail application of a suspect, Irshad, in a case involving a building collapse in the Soldier Bazar area that claimed 15 lives.
During the hearing, the public prosecutor argued that the tragedy was a direct result of the suspect’s gross negligence. The prosecution maintained that the accused had installed an illegal gas line, which triggered a powerful explosion that caused the building’s roof to collapse. This incident led to the deaths of 15 individuals, including innocent children.
The prosecutor further noted that a Judicial Magistrate had previously sent the suspect to jail on judicial remand. The case against Irshad is registered at the Soldier Bazar Police Station. Following the arguments and citing the severity of the negligence that led to such a high number of fatalities, the court dismissed the bail plea.
