KARACHI – As Eid-ul-Adha approaches, the “Awam-Dost” cattle market at Karachi’s Northern Bypass has become a hub of activity. With a continuous influx of livestock from across the country, the total number of cows, bulls, and goats has officially crossed the 25,000 mark.
Market Dynamics
The market is witnessing a significant surge in both traders’ confidence and buyers’ interest. According to reports from the marshaling area, heavy trailers loaded with livestock are arriving around the clock. Traders have begun settling into their preferred blocks, booking plots to showcase their prize animals. One such trader, Ghulam Nabi from Tando Adam, has arrived with a stunning collection of Kamori, Gulabi, Sindhi, and Tabra goat breeds. He expressed hope that buyers will offer a fair price for these high-pedigree and healthy animals.
Administrative Facilities
Administrator Tariq Tanoli highlighted that the management has taken exemplary steps to facilitate both sellers and visitors. To ensure the well-being of the livestock, the administration is providing an uninterrupted 24-hour water supply, where large animals receive 30 liters and small animals receive 8 liters of water daily, free of charge.
For the convenience of citizens, a massive 200-acre secure parking area has been established, along with bright street lighting across the premises. Furthermore, a modern Food Street has been set up to provide quality meals for visitors. The Administrator emphasized that these enhanced security measures and improved amenities have significantly boosted the confidence of people visiting the market.
