KARACHI: In a major joint operation, Sindh’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and a federal intelligence agency successfully foiled a significant terror plot in Karachi, arresting three highly wanted militants affiliated with banned outfits, including the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). During the first raid in Gulistan-e-Johar Block 7, authorities apprehended two alleged BLA operatives, Rahim Fazal and Balach Baloch, who were actively coordinating with their organizational commanders to launch IED and hand grenade attacks on law enforcement offices and sensitive installations. In a separate targeted operation near Gulbai Chowk Bridge, the CTD arrested TTP operative Shah Noor Rehman Khan—a suspect previously involved in attacks on security forces in Waziristan—who had traveled to Karachi specifically to conduct reconnaissance on law enforcement facilities. Security forces recovered a prepared Improvised Explosive Device (IED), hand grenades, and firearms from the suspects, while registering three separate cases at the CTD police station as raids continue to track down their accomplices and facilitators.
