Meanwhile, two-time world champions West Indies (currently ranked 10th) cannot mathematically break into the top eight prior to the cutoff date, even if they win their remaining ODIs against India, meaning they must navigate the World Cup Qualifier in February 2027.
The pathway for associate teams includes the Cricket World Cup League 2, where the top 4 out of 8 teams will advance directly to the World Cup Qualifier, and the Challenge League, featuring 12 teams across two groups where the top two teams from each group will reach the Qualifier Play-off. Finally, a 10-team World Cup Qualifier scheduled from February 22 to March 23, 2027, will determine the last four participants for the main tournament.
