KARACHI: A local court in Karachi has sentenced a man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of kidnapping, raping, and subsequently murdering a woman.
The Verdict The Additional District and Sessions Judge (South), Irshad Hussain, presided over the case involving the abduction and murder of a woman from the Defence area. Upon the conclusion of the trial, the court found the accused, Fayyaz, guilty of the charges. The court awarded him life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 200,000, directing that the penalty amount be paid to the legal heirs of the victim as compensation.
Co-Accused Acquitted The court acquitted the co-accused, Nasreen, due to a lack of incriminating evidence. In its remarks, the court stated that no concrete evidence was found against her, emphasizing that a person cannot be convicted solely based on the statement of a co-accused.
Case Background According to the prosecution’s arguments, Fayyaz lured the victim, Ansar Bibi, away from DHA Phase 7 in November 2020. He took her to the Ibrahim Hyderi area, where he subjected her to sexual assault before killing her with a knife. The victim’s body was recovered a month later based on information provided by the accused during the investigation. The case was originally registered at the Gizri Police Station.
