Road Carnage in Karachi: Two Injured by Dumper, Out-of-Control Trailer Crashes into Bank

KARACHI – The menace of heavy vehicles continues to haunt Karachi’s roads as two separate accidents involving a dumper and a trailer left two people injured and a driver dead in the city.

Accident at Johar Chowrangi

A speeding dumper hit two individuals, including a woman, near Johar Chowrangi on Rashid Minhas Road. Following the collision, an angry mob gathered at the spot and intercepted the vehicle.

SSP District East, Zubair Nazir Sheikh, stated that police moved swiftly to control the situation. The driver was taken into custody, and the dumper was shifted to the police station. According to Edhi officials, the injured woman has been identified as 42-year-old Samreen. She was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition.

The accident caused a massive traffic jam on the busy Rashid Minhas Road, causing severe mental and physical distress to commuters.

Public Outcry Over Heavy Traffic

Local citizens have expressed deep concern over the presence of heavy vehicles during the last ten days of Ramadan. As markets and shopping centers remain crowded for Eid shopping, residents have demanded a temporary ban on dumpers, water tankers, and trailers in busy commercial areas to prevent further “bloody accidents.”

Tragedy at Kati Pahari

In another horrific incident near the Kati Pahari area of North Nazimabad, a trailer crashed into a private bank building.

SHO Shahid Adam reported that the accident occurred due to brake failure. The trailer became uncontrollable and smashed through the bank’s structure. The driver, identified as 21-year-old Muhammad Ahsan, son of Sanaullah, died on the spot. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by Edhi volunteers for legal formalities.
