KARACHI – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the immediate recruitment of staff to make the Karachi Safe City Project operational within the next two months. The directives were issued during a high-level meeting of the Sindh Safe Cities Authority (SSCA) chaired by the Chief Minister and attended by Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, and other senior officials.
During the briefing by DG Safe Cities Authority Sarfraz Nawaz, CM Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the first phase of the Safe City Project is now ready for launch and must be fully functional within 60 days. To ensure smooth operations, the Chief Minister approved the recruitment of 34 technical and administrative experts. These appointments will be managed by a selection committee previously notified by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD).
Furthermore, the Chief Minister approved a revised budget of Rs. 200 million to meet the project’s immediate requirements. He reiterated that Karachi’s security is a top priority and stated that after the successful introduction of E-Challans, this project serves as the next major step in urban surveillance. “The Safe City Project is vital for the city’s peace and monitoring, and there will be no compromise on the security of Karachi,” the CM maintained.
