KARACHI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Karachi has dismissed two of its officials from service following an inquiry that confirmed their links with a notorious female drug peddler, Anmol alias Pinky.
According to CTD sources, the dismissed personnel have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Kafeel Awan and Constable Ali Qureshi. Both were found guilty of maintaining illicit ties with Pinky over the past several years.
The Background
Sources revealed that the connection began a few years ago when ASI Kafeel Awan apprehended a bike rider working for Anmol Pinky. Following that arrest, Awan established direct contact with the drug peddler, which eventually grew into a deeper involvement.
Investigation and Action
The illicit nexus came to light after the Garden Police recently arrested Anmol Pinky on drug trafficking charges. Following her interrogation, both Kafeel Awan and Ali Qureshi were taken into custody shortly after Pinky’s arrest, and their formal statements were recorded. Furthermore, the mobile phones of both officials underwent thorough forensic analysis to trace their communication history, and investigators scrutinized the bank account details of both personnel to check for any financial payoffs.
The CTD high-ups issued the dismissal orders immediately after the formal inquiry report was finalized, proving the officials’ complicity with the drug ring.
