KARACHI: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the CIA Police launched a targeted crackdown across the metropolis, arresting two street criminals and an online drug supplier in two separate raids. Weapons and contraband were also recovered from their possession.
According to an SIU spokesperson, the details of the operations are as follows:
Anti-Street Crime Raid in Preedy
The Arrest: SIU teams raided the Preedy area and apprehended two notorious street criminals, identified as Imtiaz Ali and Haris. Recovery: Police recovered two .30-bore pistols from the suspects. Modus Operandi: The accused have been active in street crimes since 2020. They confessed to snatching dozens of mobile phones across various districts of Karachi, including Central, South, East, City, and Korangi. Notably, the suspects would forcefully compel victims to unlock their mobile phones during the muggings.
Online Drug Supplier Busted in Saeedabad
The Arrest: In a separate raid conducted in the Saeedabad area, SIU personnel arrested a drug peddler named Peer Muhammad. Recovery: Over one kilogram of hashish (charas) was recovered from his possession. Modus Operandi: The suspect was running an online network to supply narcotics across the city.
Current Status
The SIU police have registered formal cases against all three arrested suspects under relevant laws. Further investigations are underway to trace their accomplices and additional criminal links.
