KARACHI: In a major disciplinary move, Sindh Police authorities have suspended 22 officers and personnel, including several SHOs and heads of specialized wings, over allegations of power abuse and other serious charges. The action follows a series of directives issued by high-ranking officials across Karachi and interior Sindh. According to the official notifications, the suspended personnel have been directed to report to their respective headquarters while inquiries against them are underway.
Key Suspensions and Transfers
The DIG Establishment (CPO), Captain (R) Pervez Ahmed Chandio, issued orders suspending nine personnel from various districts and directing them to report to “B” Company at Garden Police Headquarters, South. Prominent among them are Inspector Allan Khan Abbasi (SHO Bukhara Sharif, Tando Allahyar), Inspector Muhammad Shahzad Ilyas (SHO Gharo, Thatta), Sub-Inspector Arshad Mahmood (In-charge CIA, Larkana), and Inspector Adeel Ahmed Shah (In-charge DIB, District Malir).
Action in Karachi’s East and West Zones
The crackdown also hit Karachi’s urban districts. In the East Zone, DIG Dr. Farrukh Ali suspended Inspector Rao Umair (SHO Al-Falah, Korangi) pending a formal inquiry. In the West Zone, SSP Tariq Elahi Mastoi suspended Sub-Inspector Arif Shah (Pakistan Bazar) and five constables from Peerabad and Iqbal Market stations for misconduct. Meanwhile, SSP Keamari Singhaar Malik suspended five personnel, including ASI Naeem Nawaz (In-charge Musharraf Colony Chowki) and the Head Moharrir of Jackson Police Station, Tayyab Ali.
The Allegations
The officials stated that these measures are part of an ongoing process to purge the department of elements involved in the misuse of authority and corruption. All suspended officials are required to face departmental inquiries to determine the extent of their involvement in the alleged irregularities.
