KARACHI: In response to a suspected spike in HIV cases, the Government of Sindh, in active collaboration with the Federal Government, has launched a large-scale emergency screening initiative in Karachi. The Sindh AIDS Control Program is spearheading this immediate intervention, focusing primarily on Pathan Colony and Valika Hospital. To ensure the campaign’s operational capacity, the Federal Government is fully backing the provincial mandate by providing 50,000 specialized HIV diagnostic kits.
Under this new healthcare directive, testing protocols will be strictly applied to all suspected individuals visiting Valika Hospital, alongside comprehensive community-wide screening for the residents of Pathan Colony. Furthermore, the government has established a rapid rehabilitation framework ensuring that any individual who tests positive during this drive will be immediately registered into the state healthcare system, granting them permanent access to completely free medical treatment and essential life-saving medications.
