KARACHI: In a major move to streamline services for the transport sector, the Government of Sindh has decided to establish a special One-Window Facilitation Desk at the New Sabzi Mandi, Karachi. The decision was announced by the Provincial Minister for Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, during a departmental meeting.
Key Highlights of the Initiative:
Centralized Services: The desk aims to provide a single-point solution for goods-transport vehicles entering Karachi. Transporters will be able to obtain and renew route permits, fitness certificates, and other essential documentation in one place. Digital Integration Target: This initiative is part of a broader drive to integrate maximum commercial and freight vehicles into the Sindh government’s digital and automated system by June 30, 2026. Timeline: The facilitation desk will become fully operational next week. Staff deployment is underway, and awareness banners and public notices are being issued to inform transporters.
Focus on Digitalization
Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon emphasized that the Sindh government is rapidly pursuing its vision of complete digitalization in public services and the transport sector.
“The establishment of this facilitation desk at the New Sabzi Mandi will save transporters from the hassle of visiting multiple offices. The digital route permit and fitness certificate system will significantly save both time and operational costs,” Memon stated.
