KARACHI: In a major move to upgrade the city’s infrastructure, the Sindh government has finalized the “Karachi Special Road Rehabilitation Program.” The decision was reached during a high-level meeting chaired by Sindh Local Government Minister, Saeed Nasir Hussain Shah. During the session, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab confirmed that a total of 183 key roads across various Town Municipal Corporations (TMCs) have been selected for complete reconstruction. These roads serve as primary arteries and vital alternative routes for thousands of daily commuters, and following their rehabilitation, the government plans to install solar-powered streetlights across these routes.
Minister Nasir Hussain Shah directed the Municipal Commissioner of Karachi to expedite all legal formalities and issue tenders immediately to ensure the project begins without delay. He emphasized that this initiative is a milestone in restoring the city’s infrastructure and aligns with the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to bring Karachi’s facilities up to international standards. The Minister expressed confidence that citizens will witness a visible and positive transformation in the city’s landscape within the current year. The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Local Government Syed Azhar Shah, Municipal Commissioner Karachi Abrar Jaffer, and other senior officials.
