KARACHI: In a high-level meeting chaired by Sindh Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar, the Sindh government has finalized major initiatives aimed at empowering the province’s youth and elevating its sports infrastructure. The two-pronged strategy focuses on the official rollout of the Sindh Youth Card and the formulation of a comprehensive, modern Sindh Sports Policy, both of which are designed to create sustainable development opportunities.
Under the directives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the preparations for the highly anticipated Sindh Youth Card are now complete. This initiative is set to benefit one hundred thousand young individuals aged fifteen to twenty-nine across all thirty districts of the province by providing them with vital resources. Cardholders will gain access to educational scholarships, interest-free loans, direct financial assistance, world-class skill development training, and highly subsidized travel fares, thereby bridging the gap between talent and opportunities.
Simultaneously, the provincial government is crafting a modernized Sindh Sports Policy, capitalizing on the devolution of sports to the provincial level under the 18th Constitutional Amendment. This upcoming policy introduces a structured framework to register sports associations, reactivate athletic programs within schools and colleges, and significantly upgrade regional sports infrastructure. With plans to present the policy to the Sindh Cabinet for final approval very soon, this dual initiative marks a historic milestone in combining youth empowerment with structured, long-term athletic development.
