KARACHI: In a significant move to facilitate vehicle owners, the Sindh Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department has announced a major extension regarding the mandatory biometric verification process for vehicle transfers. On the directives of provincial minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla, the department issued an official notification extending the waiver for NADRA biometric verification of the seller until June 30, 2026.
According to the notification, citizens can now transfer vehicle ownership without the physical presence or biometric thumbprint of the seller at NADRA centers until the new deadline. The initiative aims to streamline the registration process and provide relief to buyers who face difficulties in locating or bringing the original sellers for biometric authentication. Excise officials stated that this step is designed to simplify the legal transfer of motor vehicles and encourage undocumented owners to bring their assets into the official tax net.
The department has urged citizens to take full advantage of this grace period and complete their pending vehicle transfers before the June 30, 2026 deadline to avoid future legal complications.
