KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department’s Steering Committee, chaired by Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah, has officially finalized the schedule for the upcoming annual examinations and the new academic session.
Key Examination Dates
According to the decisions made on Thursday, the examination schedule is as follows: Matriculation (9th & 10th): Annual exams will commence on March 31, immediately following Eid-ul-Fitr. Intermediate (11th & 12th): Exams are set to begin on April 15, maintaining a 15-day interval from the matriculation boards. The committee has directed boards to ensure timely results, setting a deadline of June 1 for Matric results and June 15 for Intermediate results.
New Academic Session & Syllabus Updates
The new academic year 2026-27 will officially begin on April 1, 2026. In a significant move, the committee has decided to postpone the implementation of the Uniform Examination Syllabus. It will now be introduced starting from the 2027 annual examinations for grades 9 and 10.
Vacations and School Calendar
The committee maintained the existing schedule for seasonal holidays: Summer Vacations: June 1 to July 31. Winter Vacations: December 22 to December 31.
While there was a discussion regarding adjusting winter vacations due to the shifting intensity of cold weather in January, representatives from Cambridge schools opposed the change, citing alignment with international schedules. However, the committee may revisit this in an April meeting if weather conditions necessitate a shift.
