Removal of Wheat Sale Limit to Directly Benefit Small Farmers: Sharjeel Memon

KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has hailed the provincial government’s decision to abolish the wheat sale limit and the “five bags per acre” condition, calling it a landmark move aimed at empowering small-scale growers.

In a recent press statement, the minister emphasized that farmers can now sell their produce at government procurement centers without any hurdles. He noted that fixing the support price at Rs. 3,500 per maund and setting a procurement target of 1 million metric tons are clear indicators of the government’s farmer-friendly policies.

To ensure transparency and efficiency, fuel subsidies are being disbursed through Sindh Bank within 24 hours, and millions of rupees have already been paid out to boost the confidence of local “Haris.” Furthermore, district administrations and Assistant Commissioners have been activated in the field to facilitate farmers and ensure the procurement target is met without any delays.

Minister Memon urged growers to bring their wheat to official centers to avail immediate payments and government facilities. “The Sindh Government remains committed to protecting the interests of our farmers and ensuring food security across the province,” he added.
