KARACHI: In a significant crackdown on street crime, the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) have apprehended the ringleader of the infamous ‘Papa Gang’ during a targeted operation in Shah Faisal Colony. The suspect, identified as Noman Ahmed alias Papa, son of Muhammad Zahoor Ahmed, was arrested for his involvement in hundreds of robberies and high-profile street crimes across the city.
Crimes and Recoveries Following the arrest, Rangers personnel recovered two snatched mobile phones and one stolen motorcycle from the suspect’s possession.
A Shocking Criminal Record During initial interrogation, the suspect made startling revelations regarding his criminal career. He confessed to being involved in 200 to 250 robberies, snatching 300 to 400 mobile phones, and stealing 40 to 50 motorcycles. He is also allegedly involved in looting approximately Rs. 5 to 6 million in cash.
Operational Footprint Noman alias Papa operated a gang that terrorized residents in Shah Faisal Colony, Korangi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, and Malir. His criminal activities were not limited to Karachi; he is a habitual offender who has previously been arrested for robberies in Punjab. The suspect also admitted to engaging in multiple shootouts with law enforcement. He was previously injured during a police encounter in Bhains Colony and had managed to escape another encounter in Shah Faisal Colony.
Legal Action Multiple FIRs have been registered against the suspect in various police stations across Karachi and Punjab. While two of his accomplices are already behind bars after being caught by the Rangers, a manhunt is underway to arrest the remaining members of the gang. The suspect, along with the recovered valuables, has been handed over to the police for further legal proceedings.
