KARACHI – A massive protest rally was held at Numaish Chowrangi in Karachi to condemn the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon, which persist despite mediation efforts for a regional ceasefire. The demonstration, organized on an emergency call by various organizations of Millat-e-Jafaria, saw a large turnout of scholars, city dignitaries, women, children, and youth. Participants carried placards, flags, and portraits of resistance leaders, chanting slogans against Israel and the United States.
Criticism of US and Trump’s Stance Addressing the gathering, prominent speakers highlighted that while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had advocated for a comprehensive ceasefire across all regional fronts—including Lebanon—President Donald Trump has adopted a controversial stance. They accused Trump of undermining Pakistan’s mediation efforts between Iran and the US. The scholars further noted that Trump’s threat to impose 50% tariffs on countries trading with Iran exposes the underlying motives of the US administration.
Humanitarian Crisis in Lebanon Speakers pointed out the hypocrisy in the current geopolitical situation: while Pakistan played a pivotal role in facilitating a ceasefire between Iran and the US, Israel continues its brutal aerial bombardment of Lebanon. The attacks have resulted in the martyrdom of approximately 300 people, including many women and children. Among the victims is the renowned scholar Sheikh Sadiq Nabulsi.
Demand for Total Ceasefire The leadership at the rally issued a stern message: “Either there will be a ceasefire on all regional fronts, or Israel and the US will face relentless resistance.”
Key Speakers The rally was addressed by several notable figures, including Maulana Hassan Zafar Naqvi (who delivered the central speech), Maulana Nazir Abbas Taqvi, Allama Sadiq Jafri, Maulana Hadi Vilayati, Maulana Qambar Rizvi, Maulana Aqeel Musa, Abbas Badami, and Mubashir Rukan. The protest concluded peacefully, with participants reaffirming their solidarity with the people of Lebanon and the resistance movement.
