KARACHI : The Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC) organized its 4th Annual Job Fair at the Karachi Expo Center, aimed at bridging the gap between talented job seekers and leading employers. The event was formally inaugurated by Sindh Minister for Local Government, Nasir Hussain Shah, and Member of National Assembly (MNA) and Patron-in-Chief of PHC, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani.
Empowering Youth Through Employment
Addressing the ceremony, Nasir Hussain Shah lauded the efforts of Dr. Ramesh Kumar and the PHC for consistently creating career opportunities. He stated that this job fair successfully brings together public and private sectors, including banks, universities, and prestigious corporate entities. He emphasized that the overwhelming turnout of students reflects the passion of Pakistani youth to contribute to the nation’s bright future. He further highlighted that the Sindh government, under the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, is committed to employment through initiatives like the Sindh Job Portal.
Inclusion and Equality
The Minister underscored the government’s stance on inclusivity, noting that there is no distinction between minorities and the majority in terms of opportunities. The minority quota exists to ensure merit and inclusion, but employment opportunities are equal for all. He shared that the government has also directed the private sector, including banks and shopping malls, to implement quotas for minorities and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Bridging the Talent Gap
MNA Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani shared the journey of the initiative, noting that it started as a response to the growing number of unemployed youth visiting the PHC office. The PHC now holds the Job Fair every April or May as an annual tradition. To ensure quality interaction, the fair uses a scheduled timing system for thousands of participants, preventing overcrowding and allowing employers to thoroughly assess candidates. Dr. Vankwani dismissed the notion of job scarcity in Pakistan, pointing out that over 100 industries were present at the fair actively seeking talent.
Special Focus on Differently-Abled Individuals
A key highlight of this year’s fair is the push for the employment of special children. Dr. Vankwani made a special request to all participating employers to prioritize hiring at least five persons with disabilities (PWDs) each to boost their confidence and financial independence.
A United Pakistan
Concluding the event, Dr. Vankwani reiterated that the Pakistan Hindu Council operates without bias. While the council represents the minority community, the vast majority of beneficiaries at the job fair are from the majority community. “These are all children of Pakistan and the future of our nation. We make no distinction; merit and talent must come forward,” he concluded.
