Pakistan Railways Clarifies Policy on Filming and Photography Within Premises

KARACHI – Pakistan Railways has issued a formal clarification regarding the reported ban on filming and photography within railway limits, outlining specific restrictions aimed at safeguarding sensitive installations.

Key Details of the Policy

According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Railways, the restrictions are primarily focused on sensitive installations where no individual is permitted to record videos or take photographs. However, the authorities have made a distinction for media professionals. Routine coverage of railway services remains permitted for accredited journalists and authorized vloggers. Conversely, the restriction strictly applies to bloggers, content creators, social media influencers, and the general public who do not have prior authorization.

Security and Operational Concerns

The decision stems from heightened security protocols and operational requirements. Railway officials emphasized that filming or photographing railway operations, infrastructure, or any “prohibited areas” without prior written permission is strictly forbidden.

Strict Enforcement and Penalties

The department has warned of stern consequences for any violations. Individuals found violating these rules will face legal action under relevant Pakistani laws, while any railway staff member found facilitating unauthorized filming will face strict departmental disciplinary action.

Official Notification: A formal notification detailing the full scope of these regulations is expected to be issued tomorrow, marking the beginning of strict enforcement across all railway jurisdictions.
