KARACHI – Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, announced that the TP-1 Sewage Treatment Plant is nearing full activation, with the construction work already completed. During his progress-review visit, the Mayor revealed that the project has officially entered its testing phase and is scheduled to become fully operational by mid-July, treating 35 million gallons per day (MGD) of wastewater. Executed under the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, this modern facility addresses a long-standing demand of Karachi’s citizens and industrial sectors. The plant is set to provide treated recycled water to local industries, which will significantly reduce the burden on the city’s fresh drinking water reserves. Furthermore, by effectively managing wastewater, this project will curb pollution, enhance the city’s ecological health, and serve as a monumental milestone for KMC in sustainable water management and environmental protection.
