KARACHI: The Karachi Traffic Police has announced a massive enforcement campaign against 23,000 blacklisted vehicles and motorcycles without number plates, set to commence immediately after the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. The decision was finalized during a high-level review meeting chaired by IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho at the Central Police Office (CPO), focusing on the city’s traffic management and the performance of the ‘Faceless E-Ticketing’ system.
Key Briefing Highlights The DIG Traffic Karachi briefed the meeting that strict action will be taken against 23,000 vehicles identified and blacklisted via the Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS). Furthermore, the briefing revealed that since October 27, 2025, approximately 600,000 e-tickets have been issued to traffic violators, while a special crackdown will also target individuals operating motorcycles without proper number plates.
Focus on Road Safety IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho expressed concern over the recent spike in traffic accidents across the city. He directed the DIG Traffic to conduct transparent and comprehensive investigations into these incidents to determine their root causes. He emphasized that investigation reports must include effective recommendations to prevent future accidents and ensure public safety on the roads.
Next Steps for Traffic Regulation While acknowledging that traffic management during Ramadan has been generally satisfactory, the IG instructed officials to draft comprehensive proposals to tackle violations by heavy vehicle drivers and motorcycle owners more effectively. The meeting was attended by top officials, including the Additional IG Karachi, DIGs of various divisions, and the DG of the Safe City Authority.
