Karachi Mega Transformation: Over Rs. 100 Billion Allocated, 500 Modern Buses Coming Soon!

KARACHI: In a major development for the provincial capital, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced a landmark allocation of over Rs. 100 billion for Karachi in the fiscal budget 2026-27, prioritizing the provision of basic amenities and urban development. A substantial portion of this funding is directed toward a massive transit revolution, which will see the imminent deployment of 500 modern electric and double-decker buses to provide dignified, safe, and eco-friendly travel facilities for citizens. Beyond public transport, the government is set to utilize these multi-billion rupee funds to aggressively upgrade the city’s critical infrastructure, focusing specifically on water supply systems, drainage networks, and extensive road rehabilitation.

Furthermore, this budget acts as a cornerstone for the province’s economic strategy by creating thousands of new employment opportunities for the youth through industrial zones and mega infrastructure projects. Countering negative political narratives, Minister Memon reiterated that the Pakistan Peoples Party believes in practical service rather than empty rhetoric, ensuring that available resources are dedicated directly to improving the living standards of the working and middle class. Ultimately, the fiscal year 2026-27 budget is positioned not merely as a collection of financial figures, but as a practical roadmap toward a prosperous, modern, and self-sustaining Sindh.
