KARACHI: A judicial commission headed by Justice Umar Sial subjected Dr. Osama Sheikh to intense questioning during a hearing regarding the autopsy of Mir Raza, bluntly asking whether the doctor or a hospital sanitary worker actually performed the procedure. While Dr. Osama insisted he conducted the examination himself and noted that a sweeper is typically present during such processes, the commission launched a rigorous inquiry into his qualifications. Investigators highlighted that he had performed over a hundred autopsies without holding a formal specialized diploma. The proceedings intensified as the commission projected photographs of the body, pointing out glaring inconsistencies between the initial autopsy findings and the final report issued after exhumation. Authorities questioned the doctor regarding drastic changes in handwriting between reports, misinterpretations of skin discoloration, and conflicting medical timelines concerning the presence of anesthetics in the blood. Although facing tough inquiries over potential negligence, procedural flaws, or complicity, Dr. Osama denied acting under external pressure or altering the documentation maliciously.
