Inquiry Report Reveals Severe Negligence in Jinnah Hospital Washroom Birth Case

KARACHI: A three-member inquiry committee has submitted its investigation report to the Executive Director of Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) regarding the shocking incident of a woman giving birth in the hospital’s washroom. According to JPMC sources, the report highlights gross medical negligence and a complete failure of the management on duty.

Key Findings of the Report:

The victim arrived at the gynecology ward at 9:30 PM, but no medical assistance was provided to her. The hospital staff failed to conduct a routine ultrasound and instead advised the pregnant woman to walk around. Both the on-duty Consultant and the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) were found absent from their duty posts during the incident. Furthermore, the report noted with concern that unauthorized males accompanying other patients were present inside the gynecology ward premises, and security guards faced criticism for failing to maintain order and privacy.

The committee has proposed strict disciplinary actions against the responsible staff. A recommendation has been made to send the concerned Medical Officer back to the Health Department. Additionally, the committee suggested extending the training period of the on-duty Postgraduate (PG) doctors by an additional three months.

The final inquiry report has been officially forwarded to the Secretary of Health and the provincial Health Minister for further legal action.
