KARACHI – In a significant relief for inflation-weary citizens, flour mill owners have announced a substantial reduction in the prices of flour (Atta) and Maida following the arrival of the new wheat crop in the market.
According to the Flour Mills Association, the influx of the fresh harvest has driven the open-market price of wheat down from Rs. 95 to Rs. 85 per kg, marking a decrease of Rs. 10. This shift has allowed for a direct reduction in processed flour prices by up to Rs. 12 per kg.
Under the new pricing structure, the price of Dhhai Number Flour has been slashed from Rs. 107 to Rs. 95 per kg. Similarly, a notable decrease has been observed in the price of Fine Flour (Maida), which has dropped from Rs. 126 to Rs. 114 per kg.
Market experts suggest that the steady availability of the new crop will bring much-needed stability to essential commodity prices. This move is expected to provide a major breather to households in Karachi who have been struggling with rising food costs over the past few months.
