KARACHI: The Artillery Maidan Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the targeted killing of Dr. Sarang near Shahrah-e-Faisal. Following the completion of legal formalities, the deceased’s body has been handed over to his brother.
The Incident
According to the FIR filed by the victim’s brother, the incident occurred while Dr. Sarang and his wife were traveling via rickshaw from his in-laws’ residence to their home. An unidentified armed assailant in a car intercepted the rickshaw near a local hotel. The assailant reportedly forced Dr. Sarang to step out of the rickshaw before opening fire on him and fleeing the scene. Despite the trauma, the victim’s wife managed to rush her injured husband to the hospital in the same rickshaw and alerted her brother about the attack.
Medical Report and Background
Police officials confirmed that Dr. Sarang sustained four gunshot wounds to his chest and legs. Medical professionals stated that the bullet wound to the chest proved fatal; he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Dr. Sarang was a dedicated healthcare professional serving at a private hospital in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and originally hailed from Badin.
Current Status of Investigation
The Karachi Police have widened the scope of their investigation, examining the case from multiple angles to determine the motive behind the killing. Authorities have assured that the perpetrators will be apprehended and brought to justice swiftly. The body has been dispatched to his ancestral home for burial after the post-mortem procedures.
