KARACHI — Three suspects previously arrested in connection with the high-profile murder of Dr. Akash were killed in an alleged police encounter near the Northern Bypass in Gulshan-e-Maymar, Karachi. The incident occurred when a team from the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) brought the detainees to Ahmed Brohi Goth for a targeted raid based on information they had provided. Upon arrival, accomplices of the suspects ambushed the police party, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.
During the crossfire, all three detained suspects sustained severe bullet wounds and succumbed to their injuries before reaching the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC). A police constable, identified as Ali Jan, was also injured in the attack but is currently reported to be out of danger. According to police and rescue officials, the deceased suspects were identified as 24-year-old Suresh, 28-year-old Ram Chand, and 22-year-old Anil, all belonging to the Odh tribe.
The deceased individuals were the prime suspects in the tragic killing of Dr. Akash, who was fatally shot while resisting an armed robbery outside a bank in Clifton. Their arrests, linked to FIR 176/26 registered at the Frere Police Station, had been officially announced just days prior by DIG South Asad Raza. An SIU spokesperson confirmed that a search and clearance operation is currently underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing accomplices who orchestrated the ambush.
